if you forget the splunk admin username and password.. follow these steps to recover
Go the folder
C:\Program Files\Splunk\etc and find the file passwd and rename to passwd.bak
after you have renamed the file, go to services.msc from the run command and stop the services related to splunk : splunkd and splunkweb and restart again
Now start splunk application and provide the username admin and password changeme
that;s all done!
